Khalid A. Latif is a highly accomplished executive with more than 35 years of experience in the aluminum industry. In April 2024, he was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Midal Cables B.S.C (C), bringing to the role extensive expertise in both operations and marketing, as well as a proven record of strategic leadership.
Mr. Latif began his career at Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) in 1989 as an apprentice and advanced steadily through the organization. In 2012, he was named Marketing & Operations Manager, a dual role that gave him responsibility for both commercial development and operational performance. His success in this position led to his promotion as Chief Marketing Officer in 2015, where he further built his reputation as an industry leader.
He holds an MBA from the French Arabian Business School / ESSEC (Bahrain) and is recognized for his ability to integrate business insight with operational expertise. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, efficiency, and long-term value creation.
Today, as Group CEO of Midal Cables, Mr. Latif oversees the company’s international footprint, including plants in Bahrain, Mozambique, and Saudi Arabia, and offices in Canada and the United Kingdom, guiding its global operations with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and continuous growth.

He is responsible for defining the commercial strategy, guiding global market positioning, and strengthening strategic customer relationships across key international markets.
Since joining Maaden in 2007, Ghannam has held multiple leadership roles across both the aluminum and phosphate businesses, contributing to the company’s evolution into a globally integrated mining and metals player. He has been closely involved in navigating market cycles, reinforcing customer partnerships, and ensuring commercial resilience in a dynamic global environment, including advancing discussions around sustainability, circularity, and the evolving role of recycled aluminum in global supply.
In 2024, he was appointed to the boards of Maaden Aluminum and Maaden Bauxite & Alumina, further expanding his strategic oversight across the value chain.
Ghannam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, along with Master’s degrees in Business Administration and International Management & Leadership, and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Financial Management. He has also completed executive programs at MIT and INSEAD, and was selected as one of the MISK 2030 Leaders.

Michael Hahne serves as Vice President Commercial of Novelis Europe, overseeing all commercial activities and revenue growth in the region since June 2025. His team delivers advanced, low-carbon aluminium solutions to clients across diverse sectors, including packaging, automotive, aerospace, and construction.
Before this, Michael headed Novelis Europe’s Automotive division as its Vice President and General Manager since April 2016. In this capacity, he was responsible for the development and implementation of Novelis’ European automotive strategy, innovation, regional sales and marketing activities, and the European automotive production facilities. Creating closed-loop-recycling partnerships with our automotive customers, providing sustainable, low-carbon products and advancing circular aluminium solutions in the automotive industry has been a priority for his division.
From September 2014 to April 2016, Michael served as Vice President and General Manager, Can, Novelis Europe leading the Can business in Europe, from recycling models to producing rolled aluminium products for the Beverage and Food Can as well as extruded containers for industrial markets. He served as well as the Global Account Director for Rexam.
Prior to this, Michael was Director, Automotive Sales and Marketing in Europe, and Global Account Director for Daimler, overseeing the development and implementation of Novelis’ global automotive strategy, as well as the European automotive production facilities.
Michael started his career with Novelis in January 2008 when he joined the company as Key Account Manager. Since then, he has held roles of increasing responsibility, mostly on the automotive side of the business. Prior to Novelis, he worked for other automotive tier one system suppliers including Lear Corp., Motherson Group, LISI Automotive and AXON Cable.
Michael holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Applied Sciences Konstanz in Germany.

James leads the Control Risks Business & Human Rights team. He has over 20 years of advanced international experience as a lawyer and responsible business practitioner.
His work spans the full extent of the global BHR practice but he has a particular specialism in labour rights and worker welfare issues.
As a co-founder of the UN award winning fair labour company FSI Worldwide, James is a recognised international expert on migration for work. This was also the subject of his PhD from King’s College London.
James regularly advises senior executives on business and human rights issues and is recognised for bringing clarity to complex situations and developing innovative and practical solutions for companies and rightsholders.

He specialises in life cycle sustainability assessment, material flow analysis, and circularity metrics. With 15 years of experience, Gabriel has worked on EU projects covering nanomaterials, additive manufacturing, and Industry 4.0, as well as in the steel industry and with Latin American firms in the extractives, infrastructure, and transport sectors. He holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems (University of Lisbon) and a master’s in Industrial Ecology and Energy Efficiency (University of Zaragoza).

Graham is motivated by the challenge of scaling up critical mineral production and battery manufacturing to drive forward the clean energy transition, without creating disproportionate harm to people and planet.

Ms. Marlen Bertram, Director for Scenarios & Forecasts, joined the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) in 2008. Marlen is managing the Alucycle Material Flow Analysis tool and develops industry scenarios and greenhouse gas models for the sector. She also oversees work related to aluminium recycling and the benefits of aluminium compared to competing materials. Since 2023, Marlen manages the secretariat for the Global Beverage Can Circularity Alliance. Before joining the IAI, Ms. Bertram worked for the Organisation of European Aluminium Refiners and Remelters, as Manager Recycling since 2004. She holds a degree as Dipl.-Ing. in Environmental Science and Process Engineering.

Kaitlin is an experienced project manager and strategy consultant with a strong knowledge base in sustainability and expertise in recycled material and carbon policy. Kaitlin has been with CRU since 2021 and is based in the London office. Kaitlin primarily advises on client projects related to strategy development and has led over 20 studies supporting a global client base answering critical questions around negotiation, portfolio diversification, decarbonization strategy, commercial trading strategy and market entry. Most recently, Kaitlin has been at the forefront of CRU’s assessments navigating decarbonization policy, such as CBAM, and has helped clients develop emissions assessment tools across the varied metals value chain. Kaitlin is a guest lecturer at UCL's Institute for Sustainable Resources on Master’s modules including ESG Risk Management in Natural Resource Projects and Business & Sustainability. Kaitlin holds an MSc in Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policies & Transitions, a BSc in French & Business Management and CFA certification in ESG Investing.
